Profile Chris Werren

Since his early childhood Chris Werren has been fascinated by the mountains and the related outdoor and sports activities. Especially powder snow skiing caught his interest and became his favorite sport. Already at the age of 3 he made his first skiing steps on the powdery snow ground in front of his parents' farm house in the Bernese Oberland and later in his youth he spent a couple of summers on an alp. Since then his enthusiasm for mountain sports has influenced his work preference to a great deal. For many years he has been working all over the world as independent snow sports coach, as leader of trekking expeditions and as organizer of corporate outdoor incentives. Over the years he has developed a special love for the Himalayas, a mountain terrain which he has not only explored in the winter but also in the summer as leader of trekking expeditions in Nepal and India.

A short overview of his training and working experience is given below:

Mountain Sports Training

• The basic training in ski technique he obtained by joining the JO in his home area at the age of 10 (programs for youth racing preparation and training by the Swiss ski clubs)

• Avalanche and mountaineering training courses during his military basic training and graduation programs in the Swiss army

• Coaching and training methodology at various snow sports companies

Practical Experience

• Instructor for military ski and mountaineering training in Andermatt/Switzerland

• Snow guide for various snow sports companies in Kaprun/Austria, Chamonix/France and Lake Louise/Canada

• Independent snow guide and snow sports coach in diverse regions of Switzerland, e.g. Gstaad, Villars, Verbier, Laax-Flims, St. Moritz and Davos 

• Participation in a number of heli ski and freeriding TV series and advertising spot productions in India and Austria

• Since 1996 organizer and leader of outdoor incentive programs and sports events for corporate customers

• Since 2001 leader of high alpine treks and expeditions in Nepal (Mustang, Annapurna, Manaslu) and India (Kullu, Spiti, Lahaul and Ladakh)

• Since 2005 organizer and leader of powder snow and heli skiing programs in the Himalayas and also of exclusive Swiss Valley Hopping tours for private groups in the Bernese Oberland, the Wallis and the Alpes Vaudoises
