Freeriding Programs, Services, Dates, Prices

Most skiers and snowboarders love to remain as independent as possible in their winter sports vacation programs. Therefore Free Ski Himalaya offers ski vacation programs which can be tailored to meet the expectations and possibilities of most freeriders and powder snow skiers. Our goal is to assure a maximum of powder snow pleasure for all our guests. Our programs in the ski area of Gulmarg are suitable for proficient and advanced powder snow skiers. Please read in this regard the important information under the rubric "Guides and Safety".

Interested freeriders and powder snow skiers can choose between our hosted programs (only hotel and accomodation) or our guided programs (all inclusive). All participants are free to choose the duration of their ski vacations with us. However, due to the high altitude and the changing meteorological conditions in the ski resort of Gulmarg we recommend a minimal stay of 8 nights with 7 skiing days.

Hosted Programs from December 4, 2010 to March 27, 2011, (freely selectable dates & duration)

This program is suited for good skiers and snowboarders with powder snow experience in high alpine terrain and adequate avalanche know how, and also for certified guides who intent to bring their own groups to Kashmir. Hosted programs include the following services:

• Accommodation in double rooms with breakfast and diner in our partner hotel

• Assisted transfer from and to the airport in Srinagar

• Guided terrain visitation on the first skiing day

• Short avalanche awareness training (transceiver handling, search and rescue methodology)

• Privileged access to our guides and jeep drivers for individual daily programs

Price Examples: 8 nights: CHF 790 (ca. EUR 550), additional night: CHF 95 (ca. EUR 66)

Guided Programs from December 4, 2010 to March 27, 2011, (freely selectable dates & duration)

To make the best of your powder snow holiday in Gulmarg we recommend that you participate in our guided programs. When skiing or boarding with our registered guides you are are assured of being in safe terrain and you benefit from many years of experience on the Apharwat slopes. In the company of a registered guide you will also experience privileged treatment at the gondola on peak days and thus have a chance for more runs and you will of course discover descents that you would not easily find on your own. Finally you will also gain an insight into the culture and life style of the Kashmiri. Guided programs include the following services: 

• Accommodation in double rooms with breakfast and diner in our partner hotel

• One registered and trained guide for 4 persons

• Lift pass for the whole stay

• At the end of every ski day, a long descent to the Drang village (ca. 18km) and return by jeep to Gulmarg

• Jeep transport for bad weather programs and tree skiing to Tangmarg and Baba Reshi

• Assisted transfer from and to the airport in Srinagar

• Short avalanche awareness training (transceiver handling, search and rescue methodology)

Flights and Visa

Normally the participants book their flights independently and also take care of their visa application. Upon request we can of course arrange for the flight tickets through our partner travel agency. Flight tickets from Europe to Delhi and Srinagar are available at starting prices of approx. CHF 900 (ca. EUR 600)

For flights from Europe to Delhi and Srinagar we recommend Gulf Air (ideal schedule and attractive price) or Finnair (ideal schedule if people are ready to spend the night before their return in Delhi, hotel ca. CHF 100). However, it makes sense to check out the fares of other airlines too.

For the domestic flights from Delhi to Srinagar we recommend Kingfisher or Jet Airways.

IMPORTANT: The minimal transfer time between the international airport "Terminal 2" and the domestic airport "Terminal 1" for guaranteed connecting flights is 3 hours.

To visit India a visa is needed. The respective information and application forms can be downloaded from the Indian Embassy website in the respective country of residence.
