Lodging in Gulmarg

Since the opening of the second phase of the gondola in the winter of 2005/2006 a continuous construction of hotels has been taking place and the visitors have access to a number of rooms and accommodation options in various degrees of completion. In theory there are roughly 180 western style and winter suitable rooms with 300 beds at the disposal of skiers. However, most of the available rooms have been reserved in advance by Gulmarg's winter program operators for their guests.

To assure an acceptable lodging quality we evaluated three hotels that meet our quality standards (good food, heated rooms, warm water, attached bath rooms). However, since the beginning of our activities in Gulmarg we have been primarily working with one partner hotel only and are personally taking care of the needs and concerns of our guests on the spot. Our partner hotel is situated in an idyllic site in the forest above Gulmarg, close to the skiing slopes and with its 30 comfortable double rooms it is one of the largest hotels in Gulmarg and due to its service offering also one of the best.

The personal presence of representatives of international operators is an essential factor in making their guests' stay in Gulmarg's hotels a positive experience. During high season the limited availability of fully completed hotel rooms that meet the described and promised hospitality standards has often resulted in huge disappointments of independent travelers and turned their skiing holiday into an unexpected survival week.

Rooms

The hotel disposes of 30 spacious and well furnished rooms with large beds, comfy chairs with a small table, a writing desk, color TV and western style bath rooms. All rooms are centrally heated (not common in this part of the world) and dispose in addition of a powerful electric heater. Hot water is available in all bathrooms.

Lounge and Bar

Located in the reception area of the resort is a nice and comfortable lounge where guests can meet for an informal get together after their day on the slopes. For the coming winter season we expect a cozy bar with a fire place to be opened.

Restaurant and Food

Due to the limited availability of reasonable restaurants guests will usually take their meals in their respective hotels. The hotel's own restaurant serves a full breakfast in the morning and in evenings the guests can indulge in 3 to 4 course meals of the Kashmiri, Chinese or Continental cuisine.
